So today marks Pink Hope’s annual Bright Pink Lipstick Day! Now running for it’s third year in a row, Bright Pink Lipstick Day is run to encourage women and their families to talk about their families hereditary health – in particular ovarian and breast cancer. In Australia 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 85, and 1 in 77 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Australian women, accounting for 15.6% of all cancer deaths. There is an 84% survival rate for women with breast cancer detected and treated early on, and thanks to awareness campaigns run by amazing not for profit organisations this percentage is getting stronger every year. Pink Hope is Australia’s only hereditary health charity.
Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of attending Sydney 2014 IMATS with the lovely Cassie from Cassieandara . This was my first time going to IMATS (last year I was asked to model for a main stage artist but unfortunately I had to work BOO). *Spoiler* I had an AMAZING day and will definitely be going again next year!! For those of you who aren’t sure what IMATS is, it stands for International Make-Up Artist Trade Show and it is held in 6 major cities around the world (Sydney, New York, London, Toronto & Los Angeles). Big make up brands, such as MAC, Lime Crime, Inglot and a bunch more, have booths where they offer products at a discounted price as well as running live demonstrations. You don’t have to be a make up artist to attend IMATS, tickets are available to the general public.
It feels like I just did one of these posts the other day, but it’s been almost 3 months since my post about my Biggest Empties Ever! I’ve gone through my collection since then and made a solid effort to use up some older products in my collection and be ruthless and throw old ones out. I’m trying to stop myself from continuing my habits as a Goo Hoarder (as miss Jenna Marbles explained so eloquently here.)
Just a quick post today as I need to run some errands and then I’m off to work! Even though I’m off on Uni holidays now life still manages to get the better of me, especially seeing as I’m moving in three weeks.
Anywho, yesterday I spent a little more time doing my make-up and playing with some new products and I was very pleased with the final result so I thought I’d show you all how it turned out.
I was nominated for the Shine On Award by the lovely Sophie from A Blonde’s World! I was super shocked and surprised with the nomination as I honestly write this for fun and forget that people actually read what I write! If you haven’t checked out Sohpie’s blog you definitely should, she has some of the most beautiful photos I’ve ever seen.
The rules for the Shine On award are:
Display the award logo to your blog.
Show appreciation by acknowledging the blogger who nominated you and link back to them in your post.
Share 7 random, interesting things about yourself.
Nominate 15 bloggers you admire and happily pass on this award, making sure to link their blog into your post.
I was tagged by the lovely Cassie from Cassieandara to do the Seven Deadly Sins tag! I first saw this tag when Elese from Elese, Aesthete did it and I thought it was such an awesome concept and different to other tags I’d seen before. This is my first tag post and I really enjoyed it so I think I’ll try doing more in the future and maybe coming up with some of my own.
Today’s blog post is brought to you by procrastination. I really should be collecting the million and one pieces of paper for my Canadian Visa (oooh, what?! I’ll explain in a post soon!) but instead I wanted to post something here. It is again another super dreary day in Sydney again, but as I’ve got so many things to do the rain is almost keeping me on track. I don’t know about you, but I am super unproductive on sunny days, simply due to the act I feel like I should be out frolicking in the sun with some sort of iced beverage rather doing laundry (shudder).
It’s currently a super dreary raining day here today in Sydney, and in all honesty, I love it! I’m a huge fan of winter and the cold, and even the rain makes me happy, there’s nothing quite like being rugged up at home and listening to it hit the windows. Rain romanticising aside, I thought I’d break up all my America hauls with something a little different as I felt like otherwise my posts were going to become fairly straight up list heavy.
This post kinda relates to my trip still, as while I was over there I purchased my first proper designer handbag! I say first proper as I do own the Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac that Alex bought me for my 20th Birthday, but its not quite the same as my new baby!
Two Sundays ago I sadly returned from a month long journey around Canada and America. I had an absolutely blast, and can’t wait to potentially return at the end of the year to frolic in the snow again! I’ll save all my photos and anecdotes for another post though, because trust me, there’s a lot of them!
While I was over there I step foot in my first ever Sephora. Needless to say my eyes were huge and filled with wonder as I carried (and filled!) my little basket full of goodies. Sephora is essentially the American equivalent of Mecca Cosmetica, although 10000000x better (and also about half the price!). I could go on and on forever about my new found love, but instead I’ll shut up and show you what I bought!
So the title says it all. I’ve been keeping and collecting these products since my last empties post in February last year (wow, that feels so strange to say!). I’m just going to list all the products under their categories and photos and if you guys want a full review of anything just let me know in the comments below.
